When sending images or videos from the phone gallery to WhatsApp, the app automatically compresses the file. This reduces the quality of large images or videos. Ultra-high-definition quality content is now being produced on smartphones, and WhatsApp is increasingly being used in everything from personal communication to office or business settings. As a result, the need to send large files while maintaining the original quality becomes even more important. However, it is possible to send pictures or videos on WhatsApp keeping the resolution fixed. Let’s examine the strategies.
1. Sending files in document form
WhatsApp compresses the files sent with the image or video option. However, when sent from the document option, the original resolution of the file remains intact. For this, first open WhatsApp and go to the designated chat and press the clip icon. Then select the document option and send the file saved on the phone. This technique is most effective for sending images, videos, presentations, or other large files up to 2 GB.
2. Upload to Google Drive and send the link
If the file size is larger than 2 GB, cloud storage, especially Google Drive, can be used. For this, first you need to upload the file to Google Drive. Once the upload is complete, go to the file menu and enable the ‘Anyone can view the link’ option from the share or access control option as required. Then copy the shareable link and send it to WhatsApp.
3. Use of file transfer platform
Online file transfer platforms like WeTransfer are convenient for sending large files. Such platforms do not require signing into an account. Users just need to open a specific website or app and upload files. A download link is available when the upload is complete. By sending that link on WhatsApp, the recipient can download the file in original resolution.
4. Create a ZIP or RAR file
ZIP or RAR formats are useful if you want to send multiple files together. For this, first install a ZIP or RAR app and collect the required files. Then save the file in ZIP format and send the file from WhatsApp’s document option. Since WhatsApp recognizes ZIP files as documents, the app does not perform any compression. As a result, it is convenient to send photo albums, large folders, or documents of many pages.
