
Inqilab Mancha spokesman Shahid Sharif said Osman bin Hadi was killed due to a political vendetta. The order to kill him was Tajul Islam Chowdhury Bappi.
He said these things in a press conference at Minto Road Media Center on Tuesday (January 6).
Faisal Karim, the accused in the murder case, recently claimed in several video messages that he is abroad and that he and his family are being framed in the Osman Hadi murder case.
In this regard, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Detective Branch (DB) chief told reporters that Faisal gave three video messages and they did not use Artificial Intelligence (AI) — this has been confirmed. Forensic test reports are yet to come, but initially, the videos are believed to be genuine.
He also said that Faisal’s claim of staying in Dubai is not correct. According to the investigation evidence, the fugitive Faisal is currently staying in India.
This DB official said Hadi was killed on the orders of Jubo League president and former councilor of North City Corporation Tajul Islam Chowdhury Bappi.
He said that Faisal Karim, identified as the accused and shooter in the Osman bin Hadi murder case, was the former leader of Chhatra League. His accomplice Alamgir was a worker of Adabor Police Station Jubo League. However, none of these three has been arrested yet. They all fled to India. Besides, the sister-in-law of Faisal Karim, who was shot in the incident, and another named Philip are still absconding.
About the reason for the killing, he said, Hadi was killed because of the prohibition of activities and anti-Awami League stance.
DB chief Shafiqul Islam said that a total of 17 people including Faisal Karim Masud have been charged in this murder. A charge sheet was issued as the allegations were proved in the investigation. Out of 17 people, 12 have been arrested and 5 are still absconding 12 December, the day after the announcement of the schedule for the thirteenth National Parliamentary Election and Referendum, Hadi was shot in the head while riding a rickshaw from a moving motorcycle on Purana Paltan Box Culvert Road in Dhaka.
He was first treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later at Evercare Hospital in a critical condition. When the condition worsened, he was taken to Singapore by Air Ambulance on 15 December. Three days later, on 18 December, he died.
14 December, Member Secretary of Inqilab Mancha Abdullah Al Jaber filed a case of attempted murder against Faisal Karim Masud of Paltan Police Station. Later, when Hadi died, the case turned into a murder case.
