Sharif Osman Hadi was an icon of protest fueled by revolutionary blood, said Chief Adviser of the Interim Government Dr. Muhammad Yunus. He said, through action, Hadi has left a unique example of patriotism, patience, and determination, not just protest. He made such comments in his address to the nation on Thursday night.
Chief Adviser addressed the nation on the death of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi. He said, Dear countrymen, I have come before you with very heartbreaking news. Sharif Osman Hadi, the fearless frontline fighter of the July Mass Uprising and spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha, is no longer with us, undergoing treatment in Singapore. Inna lillahi wa innailaihi rajiun.
Chief Adviser said, Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan told me this heartbreaking news on the phone a while back. Accept this immortal soldier of the struggle against fascism and hegemony as a great Rabbul Alamin martyr—I pray.
Dr. Yunus said, I am deeply saddened and saddened by the untimely death of Osman Hadi. His death is an irreparable loss in the political and democratic sphere of the country. I pray for his soul to rest in peace and offer my deepest condolences to his bereaved wife, family members, relatives, and colleagues. The government will take responsibility for Martyr Osman Hadi’s wife and only child.
Announcing one day State Mourning next Saturday for the untimely death of Shahid Sharif Osman Hadi. On this occasion, the National Flag will be flown at half-mast in all Government, Semi-Government, Autonomous Institutions, Educational Institutions including Government and Private buildings, and Bangladesh Missions abroad.
Chief Adviser said, at the same time, special prayers and prayers will be organized in every mosque of the country except Friday, Friday, for the forgiveness of the soul of martyr Osman Hadi. Special prayers will also be organized at Places of Worship of other religions.
He also said, I am especially grateful to the Singapore Government. They have shown great sincerity and professionalism in treatment. Especially to Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, who is also a Physician. He himself took care of Hadi and kept me updated about the treatment.
Dr. Yunus said, all the criminals involved in this brutal killing will be quickly brought under the law and the maximum punishment will be ensured against them. No laxity will be shown in this regard.
Chief Adviser said, I sincerely appeal to all the citizens of the country – maintain patience and restraint. Law Enforcement Agencies and related organizations are conducting investigation activities with professionalism. The State is fully committed to establishing the rule of law.
I want to make it clear again, Osman Hadi was the enemy of the defeated power Fascist Terrorists. Any attempt to intimidate the revolutionaries by silencing his voice will be completely thwarted. No one can stop the Democratic Progress of this country through fear, terror, or bloodshed.
We have now reached the final stage of the Democratic Transition, said Dr. Yunus said Shahid Hadi was an integral part of this process. His only desire was to contest the upcoming elections and play an active role in the next phase of building New Bangladesh. Sadly, this great wish of his remained unfulfilled. Today the responsibility of realizing his dream rests on the shoulders of the entire Nation.
In the coming days, we all have to move forward with patience, restraint, courage, and foresight, so that the Fascist Terrorist Forces, the enemies of elections and democracy, can be finally defeated.
Chief Adviser said, Let us turn the ideals and sacrifices of martyr Sharif Osman Hadi into strength in this moment of mourning. Be patient, do not listen to misinformation and rumours, and refrain from any rash decisions. Let’s not fall into the trap of those who want to destabilize the country. This will be our true respect for Shahid Hadi.
