Bangladesh has taken a tough stand on the issue of Mustafizur Rahman’s exclusion from the IPL. The Bangladesh Cricket Board has refused to travel to India to participate in the Cricket World Cup (2026). In such a situation, BCCI is in trouble. If the Bangladesh team does not participate in the World Cup in India, it will incur billions of rupees in costs.
Bangladesh’s team wants to play their matches in Sri Lanka. But India also wants to try at last. The country that could not provide security to Mustafizur now wants to provide the entire Bangladesh team with state-level security, which is usually given to heads of government. However, BCB’s mind is not melting.
According to Daily Prothom Alo, the meeting of the BCB is scheduled to be held today regarding the change of the World Cup venue with the ICC. There, India will assure Bangladesh of state-level security in India through the ICC — that is what has been reported in the news. However, there is a guarantee that BCB will not agree to such a proposal.
Most commendable is Bangladesh and BCB’s strong position. The ICC has already been flexible, agreeing to change the venue. However, as a last resort, India has offered state-level security to the Bangladesh team, apparently showing India’s regret and remorse over the incident. Mustafizur does not play IPL now and only Kolkata Knight Riders or the Indian Premier League is not a pity.
