In the 12th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League, a drama unfolded on the field just one day before the match started. The franchise of Chattogram Royals has applied to withdraw its ownership. BCB has been tasked with leading the team.
The Circle Buzz has confirmed that Chattogram Royals franchise owner Qaiyum Rashid has applied to the BCB to withdraw their ownership from the upcoming BPL. Sent a letter to BCB saying that he no longer wants to participate in BPL due to the financial crisis.
It should be noted that Chattogram Royals have been at the top of the discussion for various reasons for the past few weeks. Habibul Bashar Suman was hired as a mentor but he resigned, then there was mismanagement in picking the players from the airport to the team hotel, even 2 days before the start of the tournament their team bus was not ready.
In addition, the team is facing a shortage of foreign players. Angelo Perera, Niroshan Dickwella, Paul Stirling, and Abrar Ahmed, brought in through auctions and outright contracts, are not coming to play. They now have only 2 foreigners Cameron Delport and Kamran Ghulam. But neither of them has joined the team yet. Overall, Chattogram Royals are in a tumultuous state.
However, it was this team that brought in Naim Sheikh for the highest price from the auction. Naim was the only cricketer in the auction to cross Rs 1 crore. Naim was roped in by Chattogram for Rs 1 crore 10 lakh.
