
Fire service dive team has recovered the bodies of two women after the disappearance of the CNG -operated auto -rickshaw from Narayanganj’s Araihazar ferry.
The auto -rickshaw fell into the Meghna River at Bishnandi Ferry Ghat in the upazila on Saturday morning. On receiving the news, a fire service diver team recovered the auto -rickshaw from the river around 6pm. The bodies of the two were recovered from inside the autorickshaw. Araihazar Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Sajjad Hossain confirmed the incident.
The deceased were identified as Khaleda Begum (40), wife of Mosaddek Hossain of Rasullabad area of Nabinagar police station of Brahmanbaria and Farzana Begum, wife of his son Sagar Hossain.
Fire Service headquarters Officer Shafiqul Islam told The Circle Buzz that Khaleda Begum was going to the village home to Eid with her son Sagar Hossain and Kamal Hossain and daughter -in -law Farzana. At six o’clock on Saturday morning, the autorickshaw carrying them at the Bishnandi Ghat was ferry. It was at the back of the ferry once. Within two or three minutes of the ferry ‘Tea ferry, the autorickshaw suddenly fell into the river. Khaleda and Farzana disappeared. Kamal and the driver were able to swim. Immediately after the ferry, the sea went down from the autorickshaw. That is why he was saved. Later, a five -member diver of the fire service searched the river all day. The auto -rickshaw was pulled up at six o’clock in the evening. The bodies of the two women were recovered from inside the autorickshaw.
The fire service activist said the ferry was not a security. If there is a security, the autorickshaw does not fall from the ferry to the river.
