Pakistan’s defense minister has declared ‘direct war’ against Afghanistan after Pakistan Army airstrikes in Kabul and two other provinces.
Now the question is, what does this mean? In this regard, Afghanistan expert Amin Saikal said this is a “very serious development” and Islamabad is signaling that it wants to “punish” the Afghan Taliban, who are accused of supporting the armed group behind recent attacks in Pakistan.
Saikal, founder of the Australian National University’s Center for Arab and Islamic Studies, said, “Both sides have been facing each other for a long time.
They really want to punish the Taliban for supporting the Pakistani Taliban, who have carried out several attacks on Pakistani targets in the last year or two and killed a lot of people.’
Saikal, the author of the book titled “Modern Afghanistan”, said, “This increase in tension will be disastrous for the Afghan people. Those who themselves are fighting with economic problems.’
