
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have signed a historic strategic defense agreement, under which it is said that the invasion of a country will be considered as aggression against both countries. In this situation, both countries will come forward to protect each other.
The agreement was signed on Wednesday (17 September) during Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Saudi Arabia King / Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Salman.
At Al-Yamamah Palace, Saudi King / Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Salman and Shehbaz Sharif after the signing of the agreement, the two countries said in a joint statement that the two parties had signed a strategic defense agreement based on brotherhood, Islamic solidarity, and common strategic interests and on a nearly 80-year-long partnership. The agreement was signed a few days after the attack on Israel’s Qatar.
The statement also said that the agreement reflects the joint commitment to strengthen bilateral security relations and contribute to regional and global peace. It aims to strengthen the joint immune system against any aggression.
Experts have called this agreement historical and unprecedented progress. According to them, it has promoted the relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to the promise of formal security. They say that this move is not only strengthening the Pakistan-Saudi relationship, but also its importance for South Asia and the Muslim world. It is the most capable Muslim power to protect Pakistan.
Analysts also say that the significance of this agreement is much greater in the context of the recent regional instability, Israel’s attacks, the Doha Conference, and the Arab World. This proves that Saudi Arabia is believed to be the most reliable partner in Saudi Arabia at a time of increased threats.
