A 40-year-old teacher in Mumbai has been accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old student for the past year. Police have arrested the accused teacher in the tragic incident. The accused woman is married and has children.
Police said on Wednesday (July 2) that the accused teacher has filed a case against the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, and the India Penal Code. So far no comment has been received from the school authorities.
Initial investigation of the police revealed that the accused woman was an English teacher. He used to teach him when the student was in class 11. He was attracted to the teenager during the meeting of a dance group for the school’s annual ceremony in December 2023. He also gave a sex hint to the student in January 2024.
In the beginning, the student tried to avoid this relationship, but the teacher sought help from a female friend (who is not at school). The friend of the accused teacher explained to the student that the relationship between older women and adolescent boys has become ‘very common’. The student then agreed to meet the teacher.
Later, the teacher picked up the boy in a car and took him to a secluded place, and forcibly abused him. Police said that the student began to feel emotionally anxious. The teacher then gave him anxiety anxiety-reducing tablet. The car used in the incident was seized.
Another police officer said that the teacher would often drink with the student and take them to the hotels near South Mumbai and the airport. He forced her to have sex.
According to police data, the student’s family noticed the change in his behavior and investigated the matter. But first, the family decided to keep the matter a secret. They thought that after passing the high school from school, the teacher would no longer disturb him.
The student passed the 12th-grade board exams early this year and left the school. But the teacher contacted him again. Then the teen’s family took the help of the police and filed a case against the teacher. This phenomenon created a lot of movement in the city of Mumbai.
