
Bangladesh’s fuel supply increase on April 20 has been announced by the government to tackle the ongoing energy crisis and ensure uninterrupted fuel distribution across the country. The decision includes a 10–20% rise in diesel, petrol, and octane supply starting Monday.
According to the instructions, the distribution companies under BPC will sell 13,048 metric tons of diesel, 1,422 metric tons of octane, and 1,511 metric tons of petrol every day starting from Monday.
The government has announced an increase in the supply of diesel, octane, and petrol by 10 to 20 percent, effective Monday (April 20), to overcome the crisis.
The Energy and Mineral Resources Department gave this instruction on Sunday (20 Apr) night. It said the decision was taken keeping in view the current demand and to maintain uninterrupted supply at the dealer and consumer levels.
This decision has been taken at a time when the government has increased the price of fuel oil at the retail level, while on the other hand, it is taking steps to release excess oil in the market to reduce supply pressure.
According to the directive, the distribution companies under Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) will sell 13 thousand 48 metric tons of diesel, 1 thousand 422 metric tons of octane, and 1 thousand 511 metric tons of gasoline from Monday.
In terms of diesel, Padma Oil Company will get 4 thousand 333 tons (33.21%), Meghna Petroleum Limited will get 5 thousand 39 tons (38.62%), Jamuna Oil Company will get 3 thousand 617 tons (27.72%) and Standard Asiatic Oil Company Limited will get 59 tons (0.45%).
In terms of octane, Meghna Petroleum Limited will get a maximum of 536 tonnes (37.68%), Padma Oil will get 516 tonnes (36.31%) and Jamuna Oil Company will get 370 tonnes (26.01%).
As for petrol, Meghna Petroleum Limited will get 547 tonnes (36.18%), Padma Oil 522 tonnes (38.57%), and Yamuna Oil 442 tonnes (29.25%).
