The Human Centipede 2 (Review) 2011 — Extreme Meta-Horror & Psychological Breakdown Explained
Storyline
The Human Centipede 2 Review:
When I think of the name of one of the most disturbing movies in human history, the name of The Human Centipede comes to my mind first. 3 volumes. It can be called a movie series. Banding Movigilo in over 40 countries around the world.
I was introduced to this movie series in 2018. Back then I had to wait for a long time because I didn’t have the device and I couldn’t get the movies anywhere. Received 2 volumes of it in late 2022, also in broken condition. A lot of things are left out. Then this time after such a long wait to get all the episodes feels very good. However, with age, many people may not be able to watch these movies as much as disturbing movies.
Extreme Horror-psychological horror-body horror-Slasher (partial)-Disturbing monochrome (black & white) style-Extraordinary framing, soundlessness-Psychological grit-What’s missing in the movie?
In the second volume or human centipede 2, Laurence R. Harvey, who played the role of Martin – a sadist stereotype or a mentally disturbed – lonely – who does not know how to relate to the human world, who is sexually and physically abused by family members, becomes obsessed with watching a movie and he wants to repeat the events of the movie obsessively in reality. He tries to piece together his broken psyche by making a centipede of human bodies. The one who could never enter the “Symbolic Order” now wants to bring himself in with the common people of society. The real world collapses with its imaginary world. He desperately wants to prove himself—his power. In adulthood, he seeks to regain “control” to overcome the traumas of his other-manipulated childhood.
I will bring the movie towards Meta-Horror. Martin’s first volume was inspired by The Human Centipede—an aspect of self-referential meta-horror.
Again I can take it to visceral horror. The beginning of the movie is clinical, emotionless, cold – the scenes don’t feel sanitized or stylized. A dryness came in the environmentMakes the viewer emotionally helpless. Laurence R. Harvey creates unnatural discomfort with his character Martin—the central force of visceral horror.
In addition, the black & white visuals of the movie make the story more dreamlike or nightmarish type – creating an extremely dirty and suffocating environment – discomfort like curling up – heavy pressure on the chest – the brain does not want to see the scenes but keeps watching in a kind of disobedience.
However, according to many critics, the movie tension tension-free torture porn is disconnected from reality and the protagonist’s violence is repeatedly justified by his abusive childhood. And at the end he also said – “If this is what some people consider ‘a new kind of horror,’ then honestly – hooray for Hollywood. The good old mainstream scares suddenly seem far more respectable.”
But as my personal opinion or my warped brain can’t think of the movie as enjoyable, the depiction of human brutality and childhood trauma, and the psychological aspect of Martin’s character seemed to match. It’s a strange reality that a person can take on such destructive forms for trauma – for society’s neglect – and for which only he is blamed. Absurd, but this rule is in practiceVarious events are happening.
