Managing Director (MD) Mohammad Russell and Chairman Shamima Nasrin of the e-commerce company Evaly, which was discussed, have been arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
DMP stated that the couple was arrested from the Dhanmondi area of the capital during a raid on Monday night.
Russell and his wife Shamima were previously arrested in September 2021 for allegedly embezzling money from customers. Later they were released on bail. Now they are arrested again.
DMP’s Media and Public Relations Department Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman told Prothom Alo today that 391 arrest warrants have been obtained against Russell and Shamima so far. The matter is being scrutinized and further legal action is being taken against them.
