Considering the rise in the COVID-19 infection rate, everyone has been requested to wear masks in public areas.

A man of 81 to 90 years old at a private hospital in Dhaka last Thursday died of coronavirus, the Health Department said.

The Health Department said some new variants were identified this time. Thailand, China, as well as the spread of new variants in neighboring India, have been reported spreading new variants.

According to the International Lomming Research Center, Bangladesh ICDDRB, one of the reasons for increasing the infection this year is that of the new two new sub-variants XFG and XFC. Those are a sub -branch of Omicron JN.1.

Samples that have recently been foundAlmost all of them have been identified in XFG variants. The infection rate of this variant is high. Public health experts have warned that it is expected to spread rapidly if hygiene.

In this case, they advise the elderly, physically vulnerable or in the past, to adhere to hygiene. Because this variant can be fatal for them.

Meanwhile, another new variant, called NB.1.8.1, has spread to the neighboring country, the World Health Organization said. This has been reported through the genetic sequence test.

According to a bulletin from the World Health Organization, published on May 23rd, the variant is spreading very fast and its infection rate is relatively high.

According to data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India, most infections have been seen in Kerala in South India. Then the Gujarat and West Bengal positions. These places have been identified as ‘hotspots of infection’.

The Bangladesh Health Ministry fears that this new variant can also enter Bangladesh through the border with India.

For this reason, necessary steps have been strengthened to comply with screenings, including screenings in all land, naval, and airports, including Benapole. Suspicious passengers have also been instructed to increase genital examination and surveillance.

The first corona patient was identified in Bangladesh on March 8, 2020 and the first death occurred on March 18.
