
The UAE has announced temporary sanctions on tourism and work visas on a total of 9 countries including Bangladesh. This directive will be effective from January 2026. In addition, citizens of these 9 countries wishing to enter the business will also be under the ban.
The UAE Visa Online said this information on Saturday (September 20).
The UAE government did not reveal the details of the visa ban. However, according to multiple sources, the possible causes are:
- To ensure the protection of UAE citizens from potential threats such as terrorism or illegal activity.
- The excitement of diplomatic relations with other countries including the Gulf countries.
- Controlling the infection of COVID-19 and applying a strict entry protocol.
The UAE authorities say the ban is temporary and may be revised based on security and health conditions.
According to the Circular of the UAE Immigration Authority, citizens of certain countries cannot apply for the UAE tourist visa and work permit. The list of forbidden countries is:
- Afghanistan
- Libya
- Ymen
- Somalia
- Lebanon
- Bangladesh
- Cameroon
- Sudan
- Uganda
This visa ban has significantly impacted the UAE’s diplomatic relations and expatriate communities.
Expatriates from Bangladesh, Pakistan, and African countries are facing problems with renewing work permits and applying for new jobs.
However, those who are already living in the UAE with valid visas are not being influenced by this ban and can continue their legal work or living.
